Welcome to clickwheel push-comics, the pixel-perfect iPhone/iPod touch emulator for comic creators.

What is a push-comic?

A push comic is no different to a standard iPod comic, save for the way you view the panels. Instead of clicking through the images one by one, you simply click on the viewer and swoop your cursor to the right or left to move from panel to panel, much as you would with the iPhone/touch.

But it's twice the size of the iPhone/touch!

Um, true. That's because the push player is pixel-accurate. In other words, it has the same number of pixels, per inch, as the iPhone/touch... which means that when you come to test your comic, it should be exactly the same height as the screen.

Welcome to the push-comics' lab. Here's a quick primer to help get you started.

  • To use the lab, you'll need to signin or, if you're new to Clickwheel, signup for an account. Every Lab account comes with 5Mb of server space.
  • Before starting, we recommend you checkout our online guides to creating push-comics.
  • If you're looking for inspiration, Colin White's series, "Comics on Small Screens," has some great tips on how to design a push-comic, and some famous names to guide you.
  • To keep the service from being over-stretched, we delete test files every 24 hours.
  • We've put together some great resources to help you. For questions on how to create and upload a comic, check out the comprehensive help section while, for a more detailed discussions about push-comics, try the customer forums.

The recently added function is under development and will be included shortly.

To create a push-comic, you will need to create some content first.

We recommend you format your frames to 640 by 480 pixels - for more details check out our FAQ on making an iPod comic. However, because of the Push-Comics player's ability to rotate this isn't required. Feel free to experiment with different image sizes to see what kind of effects you can achieve.

You can now use the push comic Lab to upload your comic to the player. Click the browse button to find one of your images, choose it and then hit 'go.' You can repeat this process for multiple frames. You can also upload multiple frames in one step by putting them all in one ZIP file and uploading it like a single image as above. (Though it will take longer to load.)

Your comic will be saved to your account. We are working on a process that will allow you to publish that comic to the Clickwheel site, but for now, if you wish to share your comic, please follow these upload instructions.
