Frequently Asked Questions
- What is Clickwheel?
- Clickwheel is the first and only site dedicated to distributing comics for iPods by utilizing both our powerful online features, as well as the iTunes store.
We are at the very forefront of digital distribution in art and entertainment, and while iPod comics are what we're known for, digital distribution is what
we're all about. We're about finding new ways to get your comic to millions of potential new readers.
- Currently, Clickwheel allows you to distribute material in four formats:
- iPod Comics
- iPodComics are a set of image files that are uploaded to Clickwheel as a ZIP file and then downloaded from the Clickwheel site by the user, and uploaded to
their iPod where they are scrolled through via the iPod's interface. iPod comics can not be uploaded to the iTunes Store as iTunes does not support image
files at this time. For more on creating iPod Comics click here.
- PDFs
- PDFs are one or more comic pages uploaded as a single PDF file to the Clickwheel site and are then downloaded by the user via the Clickwheel site or the
iTunes store. PDFs can be uploaded as one strip/page PDF at a time and syndicated via the iTunes store much in the same way as an online comic, but by
utilizing the power of the iTunes' store the comic acts as a podcast that readers can subscribe to.
- PDFs can also be uploaded as multi-page 'collections'
and by encouraging readers to subscribe via iTunes or the Clickwheel RSS feed you can update at your own pace and never worry about your readers forgetting
about you. Downloadable comics of this type are increasing in popularity everyday and Clickwheel lets you take advantage of this trend on your own terms. For

- Animatics
- An Animatic is a form of comic developed by Clickwheel to allow comics to be syndicated via the iTunes store and viewed on an iPod. An Animatic is a
single video file uploaded to Clickwheel and downloaded by users via the Clickwheel site or the iTunes store.
